The Weekly Mince; Vol. 5

The Weekly Mince; Vol. 5 - Mince Republic

Happy Friday! I’m pumped because this weekend we have a hockey tournament. It’s always fun to get on the rink all weekend with friends but this tournament is made even more special because it’s one of the biggest charity hockey tournaments in the nation, Give Blood Play Hockey. If you’re anywhere local to the Irvine, CA area, I’d encourage you to come down, give blood, enter a raffle. It’s a great cause and a great time! It’s at Irvine Inline hockey rink.
Things I’m Loving:

Trader Joe’s Shredded Cauliflower

I’ve always been on the train for shredded cauliflower, pizza, breadsticks, tortillas, rice, etc. but TJ’s makes it so easy. The cauliflower is already shredded, I just toss it into my food. I make burrito bowls, casseroles, etc. Helps me get even more veggies in the diet which is something I’ve really been trying to focus on lately.

Nike Lunch Duffel

Ugh. This Nike Lunch Duffel absolutely kills me. I think it’s so cute and fun. I’ve been doing meal prep for my breakfast/lunches and this fits two 32oz containers. It’s a tight fit but so are skinny jeans. I love it and it’s insulated too with a side pocket.

Pumpkin Pie Spice
Call me basic or whatever you want, I call myself a lover of flavors, but I’m all about the Pumpkin this time of year. I even had a Pumpkin Spice Latte even though I’m traditionally opposed to anything but black coffee. Thank gosh Canabru makes such good coffee so it wasn’t overly sweet but perfectly balanced. This Pumpkin Pie Spice from Primal Palate is great for all your baking needs!

Coffee Shop: Aroma Craft Coffee // Walnut, CA
This place was a real gem. It was in a sort of industry type setting with a few businesses around it but once you walk inside, it’s just beautiful. The decor is great, the vibe is great, the coffee is even better. We tried two different coffees, the drip iced coffee and the regular cold brew. Both were great. We chose to drink them there and enjoy rather than take them to go. Both were served on little trays that remind you to enjoy the coffee, the moment and to put your phone away. I thought that was a nice touch. Ended up having some great conversation and a good time. We also shared a blueberry pastry which was delicious!

Restaurant: Urban Plates // Brea, CA
Really good. Kinda reminds me of Lemonade in Pasadena. Cafeteria style made with good ingredients. Choose your plate (bowl, plate, flatbread, etc.), choose your protein, choose your sides. I had steak with roasted brussels sprouts and tomato and mozzarella salad. It was good. They also have Kombucha on tap! Really cute spot.

Wait what? Cookie Dough Beer on tap. I am intrigued and wigged out all at once. Part of the proceeds of the beer goes to charity, Protect Our Winters. Apparently now you can have your cookie dough and drink it too.
Oof this gives me the heebie jeebies. I’m all about sacrificing the body to block a shot but this is like REALLY sacrificing the body.
This is my worst nightmare. Avocados are so expensive now. I’m going to have to get a second job just to support my healthy fat habit.
That’s all for this week! Hope everyone has a safe weekend. If you try out one of the recipes, tag your post on Instagram #mincerepublic! I love to see your stuff.

The Weekly Mince; Vol. 4

The Weekly Mince; Vol. 4 - Mince Republic
Welp, this past week almost felt like California was going to experience Fall until you look at the forecast and it’s supposed to be in the 90’s again next week. Even though I missed California so much while I was gone, sometimes I remember the Fall and Winter I spent in New York and miss it. Of course there’s positives and negatives to each place but there really is something so beautiful about seeing actual seasons. The leaves changing colors, the cooler weather, getting to wear a sweater. Out here I’m still wearing shorts and tank tops which makes it feel more like Summer and not like Halloween is like two weeks away.
Anyway, in the spirit of Fall and Halloween and Pumpkin, I’ve been baking up tons of Pumpkin treats! I’m doing a weight loss challenge right now so trying to keep most things Paleo, can you send me some of your favorite Paleo Pumpkin treats! You can send me a direct message on Instagram @mincerepublic

Tried this spot for the first time the other day. Super cute little spot. Coffee was good too. I just had the House Cold Brew. Can’t wait to go back to try the Cold Brew flight and the Nitro Cold brew!
Restaurant: Blackburns Farm to Table // Corona, CA
Went here after a killer bike ride at Chino Hills State Park. Really like this spot and they have some good food. I had a chicken, pesto panini and it was delicious!
