Shaved Brussels Sprouts with Slivered Almonds


Quick and easy Shaved Brussels sprouts with Slivered Almonds for a healthy side dish. Great recipe for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Keto, low carb, paleo, gluten free


  • 1 pd Brussels sprouts
  • 1/4 cup Slivered Almonds
  • 1 Lemon (zest and juice)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper (to taste)


  1. Shave Brussels sprouts on a mandolin or very very thinly slice using a knife.
  2. Add some olive oil to a pan and then toss in slivered almonds, allow to cook for 1 minute until getting slightly toasted. Toss in Brussels sprouts and mix well, then let cook for 5 minutes, mixing occasionally so they don’t burn.
  3. Add in lemon zest, garlic powder and lemon juice. Scrape up any bits off the pan after adding lemon juice.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Let cook another 2 minutes then serve.


You can buy Brussels sprouts pre-shaved at Trader Joe’s (in which case you can use less than a pound) but it really is nice to shave them yourself. The texture will be even better.
