When I was first starting out (and even now), I found myself constantly scouring the web for information about the vast world of blogging. Though I am by no means an expert on the subject and still constantly learning, I thought it might be helpful to those just starting out or looking for a spot with good information to create a blogger resources page. This page will be constantly evolving as I find more helpful resources and as I continue to grow my own blog.

Food Blogger Pro

Food Blogger Pro is a godsend for food bloggers. It’s hands down the best resource available for food bloggers to learn everything from setting up, building traffic, to monetizing and getting sponsorships. It has a library of helpful videos walking you through different aspects of food blogging like setting up ads and editing photographs, and it also has a community forum where all types of food bloggers and other bloggers come together to ask questions, discuss different tactics and help each other out. Currently, Food Blogger Pro only has two sign up times a year but I would definitely sign up when the next one comes around if you’re serious about growing your blog.

Food Photography

Minimalist Baker Food Photography School

Food photography is arguably the most important aspect of being a successful food blogger. Our audience can’t see, touch or taste the food we make, so we have to rely on our food photography to get them interested in clicking through and reading/trying out the recipe on our blog. Minimalist Baker Food Photography School is a great series of video lessons that will help you learn how to take better food photos and make you a better food photographer. 

Tasty Food Photography by Pinch of Yum

Tasty Food Photography is great for beginners. It will walk you through the different settings on your camera, how to set up different shots and teach you about lighting.

Monetizing

How to Monetize Your Food Blog by Oh My Veggies / Pinch of Yum

This is a great little eBook on how to start out monetizing your blog through things like ads, affiliate programs and sponsored posts. I read this when I first started and found it really helpful.

Apps

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free tool that shows you how much traffic your website is getting and where it’s coming from. It can be really helpful to determine what your top pages are and where most of your traffic comes from.

Canva 

Canva is a great tool to use for online Graphic Design software. It’s not as powerful as Photoshop or Illustrator but it allows you to create images quickly, with tons of pre-made images, fonts and layouts. I use it every week to create The Weekly Mince photo. There are also a lot of pre-sized documents to use for Facebook Banners, Website Headers, Social Media posts, etc. which can be really helpful to create optimized images. 

Trello

Trello has been a game changer for me, helping me manage my blog and content easier than ever. It’s basically like a digital notice board with a bunch of sticky notes on it that can sync across all your devices. I use it to manage my entire blog–from blog maintenance to blog posts to social media.
