It’s week two of the One Room Challenge and I’m back for an update!
One Room Challenge
As a reminder, the One Room Challenge is a six week challenge to transform a space in your home! We’re doing the pool bathroom.
If you missed last week’s post, you can read Week 1 here where I talk about the plans for the space and the project to do list.
The Before
This week we really started to dive into the project. As a reminder, here’s a before photo of the space.
The Design Plan
And here’s the design we’re going for in the room. (you can see below we changed directions for the floors and now we’ll be doing more of a white floor)
Demoing & painting the Bathroom
This past weekend, we took out the bathroom vanity and mirror, removed the baseboards, repaired some holes and damage on the walls and then primed and painted the walls Snowbound by Sherwin Williams.
In such a tight space, we can’t fit too much in the way of bulky painting supplies, so we’ve had a few tools come in handy that I would be helpful to share.
We are lucky that Handy Paint Pail wanted to partner with us and sent us these supplies to help us get our room painted. The paint pails made it really easy to keep paint at the ready even when we had to get in the nooks and crannies of the room because even though it’s a small room, there are still four walls which means that it feels like the entire time we’ve spent painting has just been in the little hard to reach spaces.
Favorite Painting Supplies
Here’s what the bathroom looks like now after some paint (this back wall is only primed so far since we’re going to be tiling it).
We ordered our tile!
This week we also got our tile ordered which is probably what I’m most excited about for the whole space. You can see the tile here. We chose Bedrosians Vivace 9″x9″ Decorative Tile in Caviar Roads for the wall and Vivace 9″ x 18″ Tile in Rice for the floor.
Here’s the to do list breakdown:
And as a reminder, here’s our to do list for the space:

- replace sink
- buy new sink fixture

We’ve still got a ways to go but we’re excited with what we’ve accomplished so far and can’t wait to get the rest of the space completed!
