Food. Food. Some walking. More food. For charity! And more food.
That pretty much sums up this past Tuesday for me. Definitely not complaining!
I went to Taste of Old Pasadena which is a self-guided walking tour through Pasadena, California where you go to different restaurants to try their different offerings. The proceeds go to local charities. It was an awesome experience. This was only my first time attending but it definitely won’t be my last! I had a blast and couldn’t properly walk home from being so full so you know it was a really successful outing.
I thought it would be fun to recap the event with all the restaurants/food we got to try.
Bar Celona – paella with chicken and sausage
Slater’s 50/50 – pizza burger – beef and italian sausage patty, fried mozzarella, red pepper marinara on brioche
Ix Tapa Cantina – chips and salsa, rice, beans, pollo en mole poblano (chicken in homemade spicy red mole sauce)
California Chutney – chicken tikka flatbread
Sorriso – pasta alla vodka – penne pasta with tomato-vodka cream sauce, roasted garlic and parmesan cheese
Choza 96 – pollo a la mostaza (chicken breast filets baked in a creamy mustard sauce) with garlic mashed potatoes, lechon adobado (tender roasted pork slices simmered in red wine)
Coolhaus – salted caramel and red velvet ice cream
Pie Hole – chicken n’ cornbread, mom’s apple crumble, chocolate crostata
Umami – truffle burger
Himalayan Cafe – tandoori chicken, dumpling
All India Cafe – chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, eggplant salad (eggplant topped with tomato sauce and ginger yogurt)
Wokcano – crab wonton, orange chicken, california roll
Spinfish – shaka with sriracha aioli (ahi, masago, panko, green onion)
Frida Tacos – carnitas taco
Blockhead Shavery – cookies n’ cream shaved ice with strawberries and caramel
Roscoe’s Tavern – seven cheese mac and cheese
Bird Pick Tea – chrysanthemum orangeade and tropical sunrise tea
White Horse – spicy panko crusted mac and cheese, deconstructed cobb salad, sweet and sour chicken wings
Cafe Santorini – hummus and pita, greek salad, chicken kebob, mussels
Waffles de Liege – waffle with powdered sugar
The Dog Bakery – so cute that they were involved too, they gave us goodie bags for our pups and Albus is going to love it!
21 Choices and Yogurtland – We actually didn’t end up going to either of these having been there quite often and also having already stuffed ourselves silly, though I definitely do recommend 21 choices as it’s a delicious hybrid of frozen yogurt and coldstone style mix-ins
My favorites were probably the Chicken Tikka flatbread from California Chutney, Cafe Santorini (definitely have to go back) and the waffle at Waffles de Liege!
All in all, this was an awesome event that I loved going to and I would definitely recommend everyone check it out if they can! My only piece of advice is to not eat for a week prior or to eat smaller portions than they give you as by the end of the night our group was having a difficult time walking/breathing from being so stuffed with delicious food!
