We’re back for another round of the One Room Challenge!
If you remember, back in October, we did our first One Room Challenge and completely transformed our pool bathroom in six weeks. You can see our full pool bathroom renovation process here if you’re interested.
What is the One Room Challenge?
If you’re unfamiliar, the One Room Challenge (ORC) is a six week challenge (this time it is eight weeks) to transform a space in your home!
This time, we’re back for the Spring 2020 ORC and excited to get started. This time we’re going to be renovating our Master Bedroom Closet!
Our current master closet is a great size but severely lacking in useful storage. It’s just standard builder grade with a few poles for hanging clothes. I desperately need some drawers to help get things more organized.

The Plan
Here’s a general idea of the new design:
This new design will completely transform storage in the room, giving ample space for drawers, hanging rods and shoe storage. It’s going to make a huge impact.
Of course, we also want the space to look good so we’re going to re-do the flooring, going from carpet to a concrete look hexagon tile. This will be the same tile we use in the master bathroom so it’ll be nice to have continuity. While we’re laying the tile for the closet, we’ll also do the bathroom tile since it should be a pretty convenient time to get it done!
Here’s the to do list for the space:
- demo existing closet (remove existing closet pieces, rip up carpet)
- fix / repair anything (holes in the walls, etc.)
- lay down tile
- paint the room (white on walls, black on ceiling)
- build the closet
- get everything in place
- finishing touches
It doesn’t seem like too much but I know that once things get started, inevitably things will come up and some things will take longer than expected.
