One Room Challenge (ORC) Fall 2020
Just in case you aren’t familiar with the One Room Challenge (ORC), it’s an event hosted by Linda Weinstein of Calling it Home and Better Homes and Gardens. Every Spring and Fall, they host a six-week challenge to make over a space in your home.
If you made it here from the ORC website — welcome!
Electric Fireplace Build
The big focus of week two was to get started on building the fireplace. I’m going to have an entire post dedicated to how to build the fireplace later on but I will share some photos of the progress so far. The build process went very well and was surprisingly easy to make.
We also painted the door, door trim and door handle. The door and trim is painted Sherwin Williams Repose Grey (the same as the baseboards) and I love how much of a statement it makes against our white walls.
For now, I spray painted the hinges and our door handle with matte black spray paint. Eventually, we will get new more modern square door handles and hinges for all the doors in the house (and paint them all too) but this felt like a quick fix until we’re ready to tackle that. The spray paint went on the door handle surprisingly smooth and looks pretty good.
