The perfect Guacamole recipe — creamy but still slightly chunky, grated garlic, lots of lime juice and salt. The perfect guacamole recipe for a crowd, on chips, tacos, burritos, etc.
I’m ashamed to admit it’s taken me this long to post a traditional Guacamole recipe on Mince. I have my reasons, of course. I just love Guacamole so much, I didn’t want to do it a disservice. I didn’t want to post a recipe unless it was really good Guacamole. Because no one needs mediocre Guac in their life. No one.
But after years of taste testing guacs (someone had to do it) and some trial and error making it, I feel like I’ve got a good recipe here. This is your standard, grab your chips or your tacos on dollop allllll of the guac on top. Because Avocado. I’m sorry you might not be able to put a down payment on a house bc of this guac but that’s life I guess #thestruggleisreal (If you don’t understand the house/avocado reference, you can read about it here)
There are a few tips you should know about to create the ultimate Guacamole. It’s something simple so every element needs to be perfect.
1. Grate the garlic with a microplane zester.
This imparts garlic flavor without crunching into a big, raw bite of garlic that can sometimes ruin the eating experience. I love garlic as much as the next gal but it’s important to treat it correctly. Microplaning it makes it really small and perfect for guac.
2. Make sure you use enough salt.
Because Avocado is so fatty and creamy, you need something to help cut some of that. That’s where the salt comes in. Avocado is pretty bland on it’s own so salt helps add flavor.
3. Also make sure you use enough lime juice.
Don’t be afraid to get limey. Much like the salt, the lime helps cut all that richness and it brings you bright, refreshing flavors. So make sure you’re using enough lime juice! If you’re finding your guacamole bland, chances are all you need to do is add more salt or lime juice.
Those are really the three most important things. Simple enough, right? But they make a huge difference. If you want to add anything else to this recipe, like tomatoes or whatever, you can but I love this just the way it is.

Notes
Don’t skimp on the salt or lime juice! It makes it.
Use a microplane zester with the garlic. It’s the best! No rough raw garlic taste. If you don’t have one, just make sure to cut the garlic very very finely.
If you’re going to serve this guac on tacos or nachos or something where you’ll also have chopped cilantro, you can easily omit it from the guac.
