It’s been six months since my French Bulldog had IVDD surgery for Grade 5 IVDD and this is our recovery story.
I can’t believe it’s been six months. Half a year.
Wow.

My French Bulldog was Diagnosed with IVDD
If you read my post last month, then you know things were pretty difficult. Albus was really struggling with foot sores, so much so that there was a hole in his skin from dragging.
We tried everything to figure out a solution to the problem but it turned out to be a difficult challenge that resulted in infection.
Thankfully, we’re starting to see some progress on this end and we hope that it can continue.
Once Albus was on a good and steady supply of medicine and wound care for his foot, he seemed a lot more comfortable and now he’s been willing to try to put some more weight on that foot and he’s actually been moving it from his hip correctly now.
This has been really encouraging.
The next step would be for his foot to flip over so that he’s walking correctly but until we get his bandages off, we won’t see if that happens.
He’s walking really well on his left foot even though he’s still knuckling a little bit there too. We anticipate that this foot will flip soon though.
You can see a video of him here:

It’s so nice to see him mobile. He can also stand really well now.
On another note, it seems crazy to me that it’s been six months since Albus went down. It’s been such a journey since then and I have learned so much about perseverance, determination, indomitable will and unconditional love.
I wouldn’t really wish this experience on anyone but I know it has helped me grow and being able to see some light at the tunnel is really encouraging.
If you or someone you know is going through this situation, please know that eventually, a new normal will find you and everything will be okay. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, whatever it may be.
If you want to follow along with our recovery journey, you can find Albus on instagram @albusandweasley where I share more frequent updates.
Thank you for your endless support, love and encouragement. It has been life giving.

It’s been just over a year since my french bulldog Stella went into emergency surgery for ivdd and she’s finally starting to walk on her own but her back right paw drags occasionally and so is increasingly covered with open wounds. I’ve tried every boot/sock they make but none stay on her paw so just wondering if you had any suggestions from your own experience?
